A fictional brief does not need your private life
An original character can be specific without carrying your real workplace, relationship history or identifying photographs. This is useful creative discipline as well as a sensible response to uncertain data practices.
WaifuChat and FunFun both present personal companion experiences. The question is what a reader can infer from the word “private,” and what their actual sources establish.

What is known about the WaifuChat policy route
WaifuChat’s developer listing identifies Disco Labs LLC and links the provider’s Notion policies. Direct reads of the linked privacy policy returned 404 during this research.
The currently readable Apple privacy section lists developer-declared contact information, usage data and diagnostics under data not linked to the user. Apple explicitly says it has not verified the disclosure. The label does not explain conversation-training or backup-retention terms, so it cannot fill the missing policy page or establish that the service processes no messages.
App-store privacy labels are also developer supplied. They are useful information but not independent verification by this publication.
FunFun publishes more explicit improvement language
FunFun’s mobile terms state that de-identified or aggregated conversation content and metadata may be used to improve and train the service. They also warn that some deleted content may remain in copies.
These clauses qualify a casual interpretation of private companion chat. The service must process a message to produce a reply; additional improvement uses and retained copies are separate matters.
The document is a mobile-terms version. Do not silently apply an isolated clause to every web transaction without considering the applicable terms and privacy notice.
Four meanings that should stay separate

These distinctions are general reasoning about the claims, not allegations that either provider has suffered a particular incident.
Make a useful character without unnecessary disclosure
For a fictional adult violin restorer, the brief can include a patient speaking style, an interest in unusual instruments and a workshop deadline. It does not need your address or a transcript from a private real relationship.
Use invented details where the story needs specificity. If you want a character to remember an event, choose an innocuous fictional fact. Do not upload a real person’s likeness for an intimate character or assume a private setting creates permission.
The decision
FunFun’s current mobile terms give more explicit material for understanding improvement use and retained copies. WaifuChat’s inaccessible direct policy links limit the current conclusion. That difference is meaningful evidence about transparency, not a claim that one service is perfectly private or the other unsafe.
Choose the amount of information you share according to the actual task and the policy you can read. A creative brief should serve the character, not become an unnecessary archive of sensitive facts.
