Who is the character for?

A character created for your own small fiction project and a character released for strangers need different preparation. The portrait may be the same kind of asset, but the public invitation, rights and consequences of sharing are different.

WaifuChat’s Apple listing describes anime character customization, images/videos and a collection of characters. Dokichat’s public creator makes Public/Private and originality choices explicit.

This is a comparison of those documented decisions. We do not infer that WaifuChat lacks every possible sharing control, or that either product guarantees discovery.

A personal collection can remain deliberately incomplete

Imagine an original adult composer planning a fictional quartet. The creator may try several personalities before deciding which role belongs in the story. A personal collection provides room to change direction.

At that stage, a rough opening and a visual motif may be enough. You do not need to promise other readers a polished plot, a particular tone or a stable schedule.

A public release changes that. Someone arriving without your private notes needs a short, coherent explanation of the situation and a next action. “A mysterious musician” is less useful than “A composer must choose which unfinished piece the quartet rehearses tonight.”

What a public reader needs

Item Why it matters
A clearly adult original identity Establishes who the character is
A concise premise Explains why this conversation starts now
An opening with a choice Gives the reader something to do
Accurate labels Helps set expectations for the theme and audience
Appropriate artwork rights Keeps the release from relying on unauthorized material

Originality is more than writing the dialogue yourself

Dokichat’s creation rules distinguish Original, Partially Original and Fanwork. They currently reserve search/recommendation eligibility and creator incentives for Original characters.

The distinction is useful even before publishing. A character whose writing is original but whose image is licensed from another artist is not automatically the same category as one whose whole expression is independently authored. Recognizable protected names or worlds require their own consideration.

This article reports the platform’s classification rule; it is not a universal legal ruling or permission to reuse a particular work.

Think about the reader who already arrived

Dokichat’s form warns that histories can remain visible to users who chatted with a character before it was deleted. A public release therefore should not contain private facts you might later need to retract from every copy.

WaifuChat’s developer description of private, personal creation should not be stretched into a guarantee that any sharing can be fully reversed. The listing is not a full retention policy.

The choice follows the audience. For your own anime concept collection, inspect WaifuChat’s advertised creative scope and current entitlements. For an authored character intended for public readers, Dokichat’s explicit release settings and originality rules are more directly documented. Generation and publication are separate stages; making the image is only the beginning of the latter.

Sources and scope

This comparison separates documented capabilities from editorial interpretation. Source access and any limitations are described in the article; a suggested evaluation is not a claim of completed testing.
